Earlier this week, Telenor Group announced that its subsidiary Uninor India would be rechristened as Telenor India. The company also went on to add that the move was more than just a name change and that it was committed to increasing the value that it brought its 40 million customers.
The company, in its announcement, pointed out that the Uninor brand had risen to become the fourth most preferred telecom brand in many operating circles since it was launched in 2009.
Telenor India plans to remain steadfast on its promise to provide its users with the most affordable calls and internet services while also focusing on improving quality of their product so that it’s a win-win situation for their growing consumer base. This enormous promise, they say, is not just fair but also a surprisingly easy one to make.
Completely owned by Telenor Group, the brand’s identity will go through a thorough revamp and will also be know legally as Telenor India Communications Pvt. Ltd.
Sigve Brekke, President and CEO of Telenor Group, in his statement reiterated that the change went well beyond the name of the company. He said that it was about prepping Telenor India for a new avatar and an exciting future. Brekke explained that the telecom service was now on the threshold of upping the ante and expanding on its mission to deliver greater value on its services. He went on to say that Telenor India will look to attract new audiences by prioritizing the needs of the customer and with innovative services.
Brekke also highlighted the fact that though a giant share of India’s population is young and the economy is on the rise, a large section remains cut off from competent telecom services. Telenor India will look to bridge that gap in the coming years by relying on its vast experience in Asia and India. Brekke expressed his delight over attaching the company’s name to telecom services in the region and vowed to work hard to bring Telenor’s customers the best services.
